Welcome to Carlsbad, New Mexico. The site for Carlsbad’s first-ever Gus Macker Tournament.
This year’s event will be held at the beautiful Lake Carlsbad Beach Area. The court layout will
be in the Beach Parking Lot, next to the Pecos River. Our standard 3v3 basketball tournament
format will include a Slam Dunk contest, a 3-point contest, and a free throw contest. This year’s
special event competitions will have some of the best prize packages ever given out in a Gus
Macker Event. This event will include a wide range of activities for the whole family. We have
set up events and activities that include entertainment vendors that will have a wide variety of
activities for all ages, vendors selling goods on-site, A petting zoo for all ages, many food
vendors with a wide variety of food to choose from, RC Car Drag Racing, and live music in
multiple areas during the day. For the evenings after games are completed, we plan to have live
music for people to come and enjoy themselves. Here in Carlsbad, we take great pride in
providing the best atmosphere possible and having the best areas and facilities to meet all your
entertainment needs. If you want to get out of the sun and shoot around indoors, play pool, table
tennis, racquetball, or just comfortably lounge, you have the Riverwalk Recreation Center just a
short 5-minute walk away. Carlsbad has been growing the last couple of years and has many
great establishments around town to eat at. Just across the river from the event is PJ & B’s Rio
Café, this year’s Hospitality Sponsor responsible for feeding our event crew. If you are looking
for somewhere comfortable to lay your head on, we have many hotels around town and many
new hotels that have just opened in the last few years. Carlsbad is home to Inception
Hospitality/Bhakta Hotel Group, which will be our premiere host hotel. Their hotels include the
Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites, Days Inn, and The Hampton Inn. There are millions of
acres of public land surrounding Carlsbad. This area consists of The Carlsbad Caverns National
Park, Pecos River, Brantley Lake, Sitting Bull Falls, Hackberry Lake Sand Dunes recreation
area, and many other areas not mentioned. There is no shortage of activities to enjoy while
coming to Carlsbad. The Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad would like to thank the City of
