The Norwich Family YMCA is pleased to announce The Gus Macker 3 on 3 is back again in Norwich.  We are bringing it to the streets again.  This year it will be held on East Main Street where it all began 27 years ago in our little town.  

We would like to thank Scott Ryan, Joe Alger and Jim Mucha from the Norwich City Schools who afforded us the opportunity for two years to host the Macker on NHS and NMS school property while the City of Norwich finished the watermain and street paving project.  The ability to collaborate with NSCD is a strong example of why Norwich is such a special place to live.  THANK YOU!

William MacGuire, Owner, started what would eventually become Live Event NY back in 2005, at the age of 16, having been inspired to DJ at the suggestion of a close friend, and future business partner. Then called Maximum Watts, the duo worked collaboratively until 2009, when school and service to the Armed Forces disrupted the business. 

Around this time, Will furthered his commitment to music, pursuing a degree in music from Syracuse University, and becoming a member of several instrumental and vocal ensembles, as well as the music fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. There, his focus evolved from music education, to performance, to eventually general music and business. It was then, Will decided he would not pursue a traditional path.

Having been inspired to create something that was his own, Will established Live Event Entertainment, which became a full-service event production business, providing services all over the state of New York. In 2019, Live Event Entertainment rebranded to become Live Event NY.

While LENY primarily specializes in formal events and weddings, Will feels the most satisfaction in his company’s charitable contributions and fundraisers, and he remains extremely committed to his community–a fact he attributes to the example his mother set, and something that remains a core belief to Live Event NY to this day.

2024 Gus Macker Presenting Sponsor: RC Smith Foundation

Robert C. Smith was born in 1923 and was a life-long resident of Norwich, New York. He attended St. Paul's Catholic School and graduated from Norwich High School. He entered the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of corporal. After his military service, he went to business school in Rochester, New York (McKechnie-Lunger School of Commerce, known today as Rochester Institute of Technology School of Business). Robert began a life-long career with Victory Markets, the predecessor to the Great American Food Store chain based in Norwich, New York. He was very involved in his community and served many years as a Residential Chairman of the Community Chest, now known as The United Way.

Robert was a dedicated and loyal member of St Paul's Catholic Church. He was a kind, simple and gentle man. He loved God, his family and his church, all of whom he served with a generous heart and gracious smile.

Prior to his death at age 84, Robert established the Robert C. Smith Foundation in 2005. During his working career he made many fortunate investment decisions which allowed him to create this foundation. The foundation's purpose is to assist in the maintenance of charitable and religious organizations to benefit the people of Chenango County. More than one-half of the Foundations distributions, since its inception, have been provided to our Catholic Community and other religious affiliates within Chenango County. The balance of our distributions have been provided to programs supporting the youth, our area food pantries and others in need. The Foundation has a nine-member Board of Directors which meets on a quarterly basis to review grant applications in accordance with policies established by the Board.
